Port City Jazz

Our goal has been to focus on the small combo sounds

Port City Jazz

PORT CITY JAZZ - is a septet that plays jazz standards from the Great American Songbook in the Chicago/Kansas City style like no other group north of Boston. Leader/trumpeter and vocalist Carl Bradford, along with trombonist /vocalist Eric Anderson and sax/clarinet man Anthony Marro are backed up by keyboard man Peter Merrill, guitarist Dave Sutton, bass man Tom Bucci and drummer Don Whitney. The result is a great mix of sweet and low down, hot and blue, and up-tempo music that will keep your feet tapping and make you get up and dance. Songs like ”Don’t Get Around Much Anymore”, “Bye, Bye Blackbird”, ”Look For The Silver Lining” and “Too Close For Comfort”, together with the great ballads like “September Song”, “In The Wee Small Hours of the Morning” and “Mean To Me” are performed in a manner that you won’t soon forget.  This music will lighten your burdens and gladden your heart.

PORT CITY JAZZ has played throughout southern, coastal and central Maine, as well as New Hampshire at such events as the Conference of Chief Justices; the Maine State Bar Association Annual and Mid-Winter meetings; University of Maine football games; Kingfield Pops concerts, the Somersworth, New Hampshire International Children’s Festival, the River Tree Arts at Kennebunkport, the Lewiston/Auburn Arts concerts, jazz brunches at the Portland Museum of Art and other festive occasions.

PORT CITY JAZZ QUINTET  consists of leader, trumpeter Carl Bradford, trombone man Eric Anderson, tenor sax man Anthony Maro, keyboard man Peter Merrill, and acoustic bass man Tom Bucci. Like the larger Port City Jazz, this group also plays jazz standards from the Great American Songbook and this group fits in well with any size group for any occasion. They will also lighten your burdens and gladden your heart.
